The Work Wardrobe

When thinking of work, I feel we need to split our wardrobe in 2 to make it easy. Of course from your Week-end wear, night outings and work, your clothing can navigate but it is very helpful to set a work wardrobe space. Maybe before each season, do set 2 hours to prepare your wardrobe.

When I started working, my grandma created my first wardrobe with Items I had and we built it from there to make the most of all. One thing was key for her, having enough options so you don"t seem to wear the same things again and again.

Mamie will always say :

"Without having too much we need to learn how to work your colours and accessories to make the looks different each time"

"Make sure we do not repeat the look! Items warn and washed are placed at the back of the rack, so you give a chance to all garments"

"Buy a set of Pearls and broches"

My Grand-mother was a very talented dressmaker and extremely elegant.
I loved her advices, and have used them through out my entire career as a Model, a Chanel Make up artist , Fashion Show Promoter to Fashion Buyer & Stylist.

Monday to Friday - Meetings Clients and Collegues
On Monday we want to arrive Fresh and ready to tuckle the week.
By Wednesday we hate feeling rushed and trying to find a different outfit to last week.
The key to an ever fresh looking wardrobe is your top or blouse.
So we should have plenty in different colours as well as introducing some subtle smart prints.

Ok so to make things easy I will start with basics. Then add on informations and exemples in each Fashion Blog. As this segment might take more than one blog to cover all needs.

You will find this very therapeutic and your work wardrobe will be easy to navigate. Make it fun & easy so each outfit gives you pleasure when wearing it but also send the message you want.

Before we list the items to have we are going to empty the wardrobe and allocate 2 seperate section of your space. One side for work, the other week-end Casual wear.

Check all items condition, when did you wear it last? does it fit well?

What is the point of keeping something that does not fit well? TOO BIG or TOO Small, it holds space and frustrate you everytime you put it on. You'll save time and feel lighter by not having it as it constantly remind you it does not fit!

Lets face it - the reallity is that our body will not change that much by now - unless you make it a definite plan starting today and stick to it - Are you? NO? ok so lets remove it!

We'll use different items such as dresses and trousers but different colors in particular in the tops, dresses and jackets.

I will work on colours and print on another series, as we can wear up to 4 colours in an outfit - we need to learn the trick to it and the rules.

The building blocks

Dresses are a must - can be dressed up or down with a blazer. Have a few with different shapes, fabrics, colors and Prints - Yes a printed dress is fabulous to mark a change in your week. Knitted for Autumn Winter! You will have to look out for our new collection from Standard Issue.

Pencil Skirt are a great basic - they make a great structured base to pair with loads of blouses, tops and knitts options.

Trousers are often seen as a boring option but the key is to have them very different. In color, narrow, wide leg to wear with heels or paltform and capri - I particularly love a capri or a shortish at the ankle - they allow you to place some focus on your shoes and they give an active look almost sporty.

Blazers/Jackets are unvoidable! They structure your silhouette straight away. Black, Navy, but natural tones, and white is huge this coming season. A printed blazer can really revive your "worn a million times" trousers or dresses.
A fine leather Jacket can replace this blazer and give a little edge.

Tops are were the fun begin! You set the mood of the day - Once you have a few different color shirts, and knitts or cardigan- a top or Blouse with a detail or print will get you the multiple options opportunity.

Accessories Yes! they are part of the building blocks. Because with this scarf, or this belt - even this necklace you look finished and different! use it! Every day!

Try this tomorrow - a simple pearl neacklace on the most basic item you have in your wardrobe . And see this simple item change your day.
I'll wear mine tomorrow

Over the next weeks & months I will continue to give advice, share information and French recipe.

Thank you for all the emails - I am glad many had fun baking the Walnut Bread.

I am still doing the Wardrobe Makeover and personal Styling so if you feel it is all overwelming, book a session where I take you shopping or come to you to organise your wardrobe and make sure all fit and work well together.
